Lindores Abbey Distillery

Lindores Abbey Distillery is steeped in history and holds a special place in the world of Scotch whisky. Located in Newburgh, Fife, the distillery was founded on the site of the first recorded whisky distillation in Scotland, as mentioned in the exchequer rolls. The original Lindores Abbey was established in the late 12th century by the Earl of Huntingdon and has a rich history that spans over half a millennium. The distillery offers tours where visitors can learn about the intricate processes and history of whisky making. Currently, the Lindores Abbey estate is under the custodianship of the descendants of Mr. John Howison, who purchased the estate in 1913 for three thousand pounds.
